About

I’m a professor of English at Rutgers University. I specialize in British romantic-era literature, and I have interests as well in philosophy, secularism, religion, and cognitive science. I have published two books: The Book of God: Secularization and Design in the Romantic Era (2007) and Unquiet Things: Secularism in the Romantic Age (2015). I have a PhD from the University of Michigan.

My departmental homepage at Rutgers is here.

I blog occasionally at The Immanent Frame, where you can read an interview with me from  October 2010.
